Last year the evo Foundation donated £1,200 to the Normanton School Uniform Exchange (NSUE). NSUE is a non-profit scheme providing free, good quality, second-hand school uniform items to local families.
The service is really valuable to the local community. They not only help families in need but also protect the environment by reusing rather than creating additional textile waste going to landfill.
Tracy Morgan, founder of the Normanton School Uniform Exchange, commented on evo foundation’s donations: “You will be pleased to know that we have already started using your monthly contributions, we bought 46 items of new uniform (including jogging bottoms, girls trousers, jumpers & PE T-shirts) which we had run out of. We will be purchasing some more white polo T-shirts in the near future as they are in high demand!
“I would like to thank you for your continued support, your kindness is really making a difference to local families.”
Last year the Exchange moved into new premises above the Well Loved Shop in Normanton. Since then, 2,285 people have taken uniforms from the exchange, whereas in 2023, only 983 people used the exchange – that’s an increase of 132%. They’ve given out over 12,223 free items in that time – an increase of 58%.
In the past year, NSUE has saved over 2 tonnes of textile waste going to landfill, and saved each of the 2,000+ families they’ve served over £200.
